LA PAZ -> LORETO : 5h
It is a 365km road, about 4 to 5hrs north of Baja California Sur that leads to LORETO. You should stop on the way in the town of SAN JAVIER, located 35km before arriving to Loreto; besides its exceptional landscapes at the heart of Sierra Giganta, you can discover a series of caves decorated with paintings dating from ten thousand years ago. LORETO is a little heaven isolated from the world, between Sierra Giganta and the Sea of Cortez.
You will find landscapes that will take your breath away. In the streets of Loreto you will find 7 buildings considered historical monuments; this is a very quiet destination with a small town atmosphere that attracts a lot of tourists.

LORETO -> MULEGE : 1h30
Back on the road you can’t miss a visit to Bahia Concepcion (1hr away), here you can see the most beautiful landscapes in the peninsula. An oasis by the sea bordered by palm trees, olive and buganvilia trees and a great amount of fruit trees of the area. You have to make a stop at the SANTISPAC beach, where you can have lunch at a very nice “bar” in the middle of nowhere; take your time you won’t regret it.
Later you have to go through Mulege, a very nice place to visit, but in comparison to other towns it isn’t worth it to stay too long. After Mulege you can visit SANTA ROSALIA: a piece of France in Mexico. An ancient mining town exploited by the French in the XIX century; this town has a church with a very unique architecture in Mexico; it is entirely made of steel and was built by Gustave Eiffel.

Santa Rosalia -> San Ignacio : 1h
Later drive heading to the San Ignacio lagoon where you can spend the night in a yurt (a hut made by expandable wood traditionally used by Siberians); here you will in direct contact with nature, during the winter gray whales find a great refuge in this bay.
You can’t miss a visit to the San Ignacio lagoon Night at the Hotel Ignacio Springs, located un the middle of a palm grove at the edge of the San Ignacio river; where you can use the kayaks and small boats a long the river.
San Ignacio -> Puerto San Carlos : 6h30
You must take the road to port of San Carlos that can be summed up in three words: cactus, wind and waves, but that represent an incomparable landscape.
You will drive through deserts of cactus, yuccas, mangroves and lagoons, and you will see an exceptional variety of birds until you reach the port of San Carlos, also known as “the door to the Pacific”. This is a privileged place for whale watching during the season (spring-winter).

Puerto San Carlos -> La Paz : 3h30
You will drive through the town of CIUDAD DE CONSTITUCION, located at the heart of the agricultural valley of Santo Domingo, where they still grow wheat, chickpea, cotton and citrus; due to the great efforts of irrigation for all the crops, the big wells have been excavated to find water in the deepest areas of the desert.
Later you will go through Sierra Guadalupe, a protected biosphere with a great amount of different species of trees endemic to the area; then take the road to La Paz.
On the way to La Paz you can enjoy some of the beaches like BALANDRA or TECOLOTE.
